Road to Recovery — Enhanced by Nutrition Train-the-Trainers: Role of Surgical Care Teams in Perioperative Nutrition in Enhanced Recovery |
||
| Details | Date: 14 May 2026
Time: 12:00 – 19:00 SGT |
||
| Synopsis | Perioperative nutrition is a potent modifiable factor enhancing surgical outcomes in gastrointestinal (GI) procedures, including high-risk colorectal cancer resections. Malnutrition, cachexia, and sarcopenia—prevalent in these patients exacerbate catabolic responses, muscle catabolism, anastomotic dehiscence, infections, impaired wound healing, prolonged hospitalization, and readmissions.
The Train-the-Trainer 2.0 initiative equips gastrointestinal surgeons and intensivists to spearhead this nutritional paradigm, fostering institutional protocols for sustained care across Southeast Asia. |
