Olle Ljungqvist MD, PhD, trained at the Karolinska Institutet serves as Semior Professor of Surgery, Örebro University, Sweden. Dr Ljungqvist has chaired international societies including ESPEN and IASMEN in the ISS, co-founded and chaired the ERAS® Society 2010-2022. He proposed preoperative carbohydrate treatment. He studies surgical stress metabolism and nutrition and ERAS, publishing 300+ original contributions, international guidelines, textbooks, book chapters and reviews. H-index 81. He delivers about 20 main lectures worldwide annually and was awarded the International Surgical Society prize 2022.
