Professor Lohsiriwat graduated Doctor of Medicine (1st-class honor and Gold medal) from Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand in 1999. He completed training in General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery in 2004 and 2006, respectively. He was granted M.Sc. in Surgical Science from University of London (UK) in 2007 and Ph.D. in Gastrointestinal Surgery from University of Nottingham (UK) in 2010. He was an invited visiting professor at Kyushu University Hospital (Japan) in 2017.

He is a pioneer in colorectal cancer surgery, proctology, surgical infection, surgical nutrition, and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) in Thailand. He has authored more than 50 book chapters and more than 140 peer-reviewed scientific papers. Collectively, his work has been cited in the medical literature over 4000 times with h-index of 34. He was also recognized as the world’s top 2% scientists by Standford University (USA) for 5 consecutive years (2020-2024).

Professor Lohsiriwat is currently an associate editor of Siriraj Medical Journal and a former editor-in-chief of World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. He is also a founding committee of Global Reach – European Society of Coloproctology, and an active member of the Royal College of Surgeons Thailand, the Association of General Surgeons of Thailand (served as a general secretary), the Association of Thai Colorectal Surgeons (served as an educational committee), and the Surgical Infection Society of Thailand (served as a general secretary).
