Pedro T. Ramirez, MD, FACOG, FACS, is the Alan L. Kaplan, MD Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Houston Methodist Hospital. Under his leadership, the department achieved a top 10 national ranking by U.S. News & World Report in 2025 and expanded its academic and clinical footprint across multiple sites and subspecialties.
An internationally recognised leader in gynaecologic oncology, he was Principal Investigator of the landmark LACC Trial, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, which reshaped global standards in cervical cancer surgery. He has authored more than 385 peer-reviewed publications, serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, and co-authored the ERAS Society international guidelines for gynaecologic oncology surgery. His honours include the Ernst Wertheim Award, and he currently serves on the IDEAL Council at Oxford University.
