Jörg-Peter Ritz completed his medical training at Freie Universität Berlin and undertook surgical training at Charité Campus Benjamin Franklin in Berlin. He is Professor of Surgery at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and serves as Chairman of the Department of General and Visceral Surgery, as well as Medical Director at Helios Hospital Schwerin (University Campus MSH). Within the Helios Group, he acts as Speaker for Visceral Surgery and leads both the ERAS Excellence Center for Colorectal and Pancreatic Surgery and the Center for Abdominal and Thoracic Medicine.
He specialises in gastrointestinal, oncological and minimally invasive surgery and has performed more than 500 robotic procedures. His clinical and academic interests include ERAS, colorectal and HPB surgery, and surgical training. He is a founding and board member of the Surgical Society for Perioperative Management in Visceral Surgery, has served as Board Member and President of the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery, and has authored over 170 peer-reviewed publications.
